They have a lot of people just coming in and getting the free sodas, coffee, etc. MGM states that they encourage people to come down even if they don't wish to gamble, so I guess they brought this on themselves, but it certainly didn't make me feel safe. When I went to the casino, I felt very uneasy as there were more people just hanging around watching the players. If you have any doubts about that read the article about the gentleman from New York who was brutally assaulted in the casino at 4:40 P.M. I know this is an extremely bad neighborhood, but thought that the casino would be well secured and supervised, but it is not.
To begin with I did give it a good try - I went on four different occasions at different times during the day and night to check out the situation.
I have been going to Foxwoods and Mohegan since the first day they both opened and the smoke (and smell) is unbelievable if you are a non smoker. However, the only thing I can say on the plus side is that it is smoke free. Like everyone else, I was excited to go to the new casino as it would save about an hour drive time off going to the Connecticut casinos.
